Active Networking Through IR Pitching and Talk Shows

Hyundai Engineering & Construction (Hyundai E&C) is expanding its startup growth platform to build a sustainable construction innovation ecosystem.

Hyundai E&C announced on the 21st that it held the “2024 Hyundai E&C Open Innovation Day” at the 2024 Korea Construction Safety Expo, which took place at KINTEX in Ilsan on the 17th. The event introduced technologies and services from startups discovered by Hyundai E&C and shared the outcomes of collaboration, held at the open seminar stage within the exhibition hall.

The Korea Construction Safety Expo is the nation’s only exhibition dedicated to construction safety, where key institutions, companies, and domestic and international buyers in the smart construction and industrial safety fields gather to share cutting-edge technologies and the latest trends in construction safety.

For the second consecutive year, Hyundai E&C operated a “Hyundai E&C Open Innovation Joint Pavilion,” providing startups it discovered with opportunities to promote their technologies. This year’s pavilion featured 12 startups, including JD Solution (directional sound speakers), Worksmate (a contactless matching platform for construction workers), and SAIM (a smart remote education solution for construction sites), showcasing innovative construction technologies.

The first-ever Open Innovation Day brought together 18 startups and over 100 participants, including representatives from startup-supporting and partner organizations such as the Seoul Business Agency (SBA), Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, Seoul Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, Korea Technology Venture Foundation, and Hanyang University, facilitating active networking.

The participating companies included 11 startups selected through competitions — Seoul Dynamics, Bricon Lab, Tool Space, AM Autonomy, Sunny Wave Tech, The Miracle Soft, Korea Green Data, Frictech, Aplayz, Highcore Tech, and DALAB — 5 startups chosen through the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ “Corporate Collaboration Type Startup Leap Package” program — Data Knows, YPowerOne, BioConnect, JH Global, and ALabs — and 2 startups currently progressing with follow-up projects, Sixty Hertz and SAIM.

A Hyundai E&C official said, “This event provided an opportunity to showcase the excellent technologies and services of startups discovered by Hyundai E&C, while also sharing the company’s open innovation achievements. We will continue to provide diverse support such as scaling up, attracting investment, and incubation to grow alongside startups.”
