AI music tech company Aplayz participated in CES 2024, held in Las Vegas, USA, to showcase its “next-generation AI spatial music curation” service. On the 11th, Aplayz stated, “We are honored to participate in CES just one year after our founding,” adding, “At CES 2024, we attracted attention from industry professionals by setting up an interactive booth at Eureka Park, where visitors could directly experience our AI-based spatial music curation service.” Aplayz was selected in 2022 for Hyundai Motor Group’s in-house startup incubation program, “Zer01ne Company Builder.” After more than a year of development and incubation, it officially spun off in January last year as an AI music tech startup. The company currently offers the service “Aplayz,” which provides optimized playlists for stores and vehicles. The service is available and subscribable via the official website, Apple App Store, and Google Play Store. Aplayz independently developed an AI engine that collects and analyzes data not only on user preferences such as favorite artists and genres but also on spatial elements like atmosphere, location, IoT and connected car signals, as well as real-time visitor data (from CCTV, user feedback, etc.) to provide the most suitable playlists for each space. The playlists are updated in real time based on dynamic information, allowing users to enjoy diverse music experiences. Once the initial setup is complete, the system automatically recommends playlists that match the mood of the space. Aplayz provides both “store-use” services for general offline spaces and “in-vehicle” services for cars. Smart car software platform company Obigo invested approximately 1.2 billion KRW in Aplayz as a strategic partner. At CES, the two companies jointly showcased a personalized in-car music service. The two firms plan to collaborate further to integrate their personalized in-car music service into global OEM automotive systems. Additionally, Aplayz was selected as the final partner for the “Startup Open Stage” program organized by Hanwha Vision X Seoul Center for Creative Economy & Innovation. Through this partnership, the company is conducting a proof-of-concept project that provides playlists in real time by analyzing CCTV data on visitors’ gender, age, crowd density, and mood. The companies are also planning joint commercialization and sales initiatives. Aplayz CEO Jungjin Bae said, “We are thrilled to showcase our independently developed AI-based spatial music curation service to a global audience at CES 2024,” adding, “We aim to go beyond simple music playback by leveraging AI-driven technology that optimally matches spatial and audio data to enhance the value of both music and spaces.” Reporter: Kyungseok Han (hanks30@naver.com) [Aplayz unveils “next-generation AI spatial music curation” at CES 2024], Financial Today, January 11, 2024
